Study Time

Clover seems to think economics is boring, so he decided to use my book as a pillow. He is so darn cute!

Diamond took the most direct approach and began to whack my book with her paws when I continued to study. Take that economic analysis...

Star peeked around my book, with her big eyes. What are you reading there?

I don't understand why you aren't holding me...

Moon calmly watched me read wondering when I would open another can of salmon pate for him and his siblings.

Misty was just happy to have a babysitter and another adult to meow at about her day. Silly momma.

Snuggle time

The kittens have been taking their antibiotics to recover from upper respiratory infections. Poor little ones are very sneezy, but still sweet and cuddly. Here's Moon and Diamond napping on my lap.

Star using my arm as a pillow...

And Clover laying on my tummy and smiling at me.

That pretty much covers it. Love bugs all of them!

They have names!

I knew from the moment I saw this tiny litter of all black kittens that I would name them the lucky charms. After getting to know them, I've decided on Shooting Star, Four Leaf Clover, Yellow Moon, and Blue Diamond.

Star is a happy, outgoing girl. She is super sweet and has big soft eyes. She is always up for adventures and ear scratches. I think she is the biggest in the litter, but I need to weigh them all to be sure.

Clover was the first kitten to come out of his shell and ask for loving. He is all about cuddle time. He is also the bravest and was the first to climb the kitten tree, which is now his favorite perch. He is a momma's boy.

Moon and Diamond are the quieter kittens in the litter, but love to play peek-a-boo with each other. They still wiggle in my arms, but like to be petted now and are getting more comfortable and confident. Moon is very sweet and gentle. He loves to play and is always finding fun little hideaways.

Diamond was the more reserved little girl. She spent most of her time watching birdies out of the window or in her little cardboard house, but she same become very affectionate and loving. She has the most delicate little face and is quite a beauty.

Here's a little video montage of the kittens in their new little bell collars!

Getting Acquainted

Here's momma Misty settling in. She is such a beautiful tortie and SO SWEET!

And here are some shots of the little ones running around and hanging out. I can't always tell them apart yet, but I have two boys and two girls.

Here are my two girls. One is a window watcher and the other prefers playing pee-a-boo in the cat tree or the scratcher house.

Here's my sleepy snuggly boys. They are so sweet.

Meeting Misty and her Lucky Charms

I happened to be looking for a new litter of kittens to bring home when I came across this litter of four tiny black kittens on pet harbor. They had come into Prince George County Shelter as strays and looked super tiny, barely 6 weeks old. Black kittens are often overlooked at shelters, because people think they are bad luck and they don't always stand out next to more colorful cats. Four black kittens just didn't have much of a chance in a full shelter. So I called to get their information and arrange to pick them up. They would be my lucky charms. When I called, I found out that they also had the mom, a sweet, young tortie named Misty. LDCRF never leaves a momma behind, so arranged to I pick up this teenage mom and her four babies today as my newest feline fosters (we also foster dogs).

My terrier Mamah was super excited as we prepared the kitten room! She LOVES kitties and is always happy to meet her new feline foster friends!

They are a little skinny, but they are a terrific little family! They use their litter box, love toys and their scratcher posts, and never refuse tasty treats.  They are settling in and fatting up while the kittens get old enough to go up for adoption. I cannot wait to get to know them all!

Here they are all exploring their kitten room, eating some yummy canned food, and hanging out with their temporary roomies - Robinson, Onyx, Egypt, Raphael, and Rupert - five other single kittens rescued today, who will also be up for adoption soon!
